Beschreibung:

Eine Infektion mit dem enteralen equinem Coronavirus (ECoV) verläuft bei vielen adulten Pferden mild und kann sich alleinig durch Fieber äußern – ganz ohne Durchfall oder Kolik. In dieser Folge des Podcasts Equine Vet News sprechen die Fachtierärztinnen für Pferde Dr. Anja Gabe und Dr. Nora Gembicki, über die klinische Bandbreite von ECoV – von unspezifischem Fieber über Kolik und Durchfall bis hin zu seltenen, aber schweren neurologischen Verläufen – sowie über Diagnostik, Therapie und Quarantänemaßnahmen. Im zweiten Teil der Folge geht es um die Eisenkonzentration im Blut: ein weniger beachteter, aber sensitiver Marker für systemische Entzündung, der schneller reagiert als Fibrinogen und die Leukozytenzahl – und auf die Besserung der systemischen Entzündung schnell reagiert.
